who we are
We are a group of artist, craftsman and creators that came together to develop interesting, visually appealing and desirable works for every occasion.
Our interests include the development and growth of the artists as well as the community as a whole. We offer the creative space, both physically and artistically, to develop and showcase practically any medium.
“The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.”
I work within the jewelry medium, handcrafted pieces from resin, recycled curios and wire to create unique, one of a kind pieces. My inspiration comes from many places, but I particularly like drawing on natural elements and scenes, using found items, and also steampunk inspired pieces. I have been active on the Baton Rouge arts show scene for over a year now, and look forward to seeing where this next year will take me.
I like the organic shapes of foliage and paint them in an impressionistic style. When enjoying my paintings, I hope you get a real sense of not only the south, but southern Louisiana life. My husband and I started building a house, and in that I found a love for small carpentry. I think it is my drive to create in any way that may be available. I paint mostly with Acrylic. Growing up in the country, I’ve always been inspired by bright sunsets, landscapes and the open sky.
For generations, it has been our family tradition to make creamy Louisiana pecan candy to share with friends and family locally and abroad to celebrate birthdays, holidays and special occasions. This became a hit over the years and has inspired us to to make this gift giving tradition available to everyone. We specialize in heart-shaped Pralines for gifts, events or simply just because. We sell locally and ship nationwide.
For the past five years I have plunged headfirst into the abstract world of painting and mixed media. I always begin each painting with the “ rules “ of color, composition, and form just to find a way to break them. That is where I really enjoy the process.
My art is intended to tell a story, as if I am writing in my personal journal. The free form composition and rich colors of my art have become my language of choice. Abstract painting has become a way of saying things I cannot express with words. It has also become my escape from this hectic and fast pace world we live in.
It’s a process that sometimes can’t be explained, and is presented in the hopes that the viewers will be moved, or even healed, by its experiences.
My ancestral linage includes Samoan, Tongan, French, and Italian heritage. I am a Jambalaya of cultures! I infuse healing and protective energy in every piece of art I create. I have dedicated myself to creating healing tools for people to use to manifest healing into their home and lives. I am honored to do this work.
Hi there! My name is Katie Brousseau, and I currently live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Making art has always been my passion, and I’m excited to finally have my own space to exhibit it all. Since I was a little girl, I have had the opportunity to dabble in all types of art mediums. I am currently incorporating gold leaf into all of my paintings and coating them with epoxy resin to give them a glossy/ shiny look. Creating art makes me happy and I am excited to see where it takes me!
Born and raised Baton Rouge native, Tanya Ruffin attended Louisiana State University, obtaining a bachelor’s in fine arts and completing a master’s in art history. Ruffin has been a graphic design instructor, museum curator, multimedia department manager at LSU , and now social media coordinator for the LSU Ag Center. While Ruffin does use her artistic skills at work, she felt herself getting further away from art, founding herself in a funk and this is how Create Studios was born. Tanya wanted a place for artistic and the non-artistic alike to come and make art. Her classes range from painting to resin art and jewelry making. She is also able to host shows and events at her space. Having this creative space has allowed Ruffin to create more art for joy sake thus enjoying life and creating much more!
